Julia Skoczypiec
Writer, Editor, Vocalist, Executive assistant

About.
Julia has been a passionate storyteller since her childhood. From heartfelt poems and lyrics to lengthy pieces of creative non-fiction, she has always used writing to express her emotions.
Growing up as a shy teenager, Julia never let her original music and writing escape the confines of her bedroom. Through songwriting, Julia was able to reflect on many personal experiences. Her lyrics continue to touch on themes surrounding mental health, authenticity, love, loss, and environmentalism. Musically, she was and continues to be inspired by artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Tori Kelly, and P!nk.
Julia likes to think of herself as a multidisciplinary artist. Since high school, she has taken part in multiple community theatre shows and completed her Level 6 RCM certification in Voice. In 2018, she competed in the Kiwanis Music Festival for vocals, earning three first place medals at her hometown competition and an Honourable Mention at the provincial level. Later, throughout her time at the University of Toronto Mississauga where Julia studied English, Drama, and Professional Writing, she expressed her creativity mainly through poetry, short stories, and scripts. In 2020, her poem “Stretch Marks” was published in Canadian arts magazine,Wandering Autumn. After she graduated with her HBA in 2022, she served as the Arts and Entertainment editor for her campus publication, The Medium. Through campus-led publications such as The Medium Magazine and Mindwaves, Julia had the opportunity to publish three of her short stories— “Babcia,” “Our World Through Rhythm” and “To Observe.” She has also worked on articles and podcast episodes for a careers and student success website known as "JobsPeopleDo."
Currently, Julia takes on grant writing, voice over, and music projects on a freelance basis. She works full-time in the TV/Film industry at Hasbro Entertainment, as an Executive Assistant on the production team for children's animated media. In 2023, she earned her first TV credit as "Team Assistant" on the animated series My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, currently streaming on Netflix. Through her involvement on the production team, Julia continues to learn and grow as a creative.
While Julia’s creative endeavours have covered multiple grounds, she’s always found a personal sense of healing in songwriting. Her debut single, an alt-pop tune titled "Where the Truth Really Lies", can be found on all streaming platforms under her artist name, Julia S.
Currently, outside of her full-time and freelance work, Julia spends her free time writing, reading, and going on nature walks with her fiancé and their pomeranian Benji. She is also working on another single to be released in the near future.
